Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
Cheers
Well I finally got my backside into gear and finished the drivers door. This one was just the inner frame that needed repairing, think I may have mentioned that before but I can't remember much these days
Anyway it required the whole inner lip replacing, which I did one half at a time by splitting the spotweld's and peeling back the door skin. Then tacking in the new section and folding the skin back over.
TOP TIP TIME:
When you buy a sheet metal folder for making up your replacement panels... its best not to leave it 550mls away on a Scottish Island
also need a bit to the lower front and upper front corners
got a couple of awkward panels to have a look at next...

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
Here we are, this here is one of the A-post gutter pieces that fits to the underside of the post and is actually the worse of the two.
Thought there'd be no chance of easily finding replacements so decided to try making them and might aswell start with the worse one.
don't think it turned out to bad, it aint perfect but reckon its an improvement on the original.

TaDa had a couple of hours in the cave on Saturday afternoon and made the opposite piece, have to say I'm pleased with how they turned out. Hopefully they will fit.

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
Hi folks, time to add a little bit more. As you know at the end of my last trip North the Charger had moved to a larger brighter garage from the one where it'd spent the last 16yrs slowly dissolving. It just had to wait a few more months for the freshly painted Victor and a MK2 RS Escort to swap places (brother has two garages the lucky B r) well a couple of weeks back he'd made a start and this evening sent me some photos.

This project never fails to inspire me, Dave. Seeing your work got me going to tackle the holes in the Dart last summer and I’m so glad I did. Best of luck to you mate, keep it going absolute credit to ya.

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
Most of the original car is in bin bags
The welding's fine but mostly just doing short stiches and jumping them about to cut down on distortion as much as possible. Using 1.2mm for the most of it and where we want a bit more strength some 2.5 eg inner wings to firewall.
Strange discovery that wasn't expected is the sills appear to be galvanised???
