At work you have a company's reputation to look after so I guess you do enough checks to cover all bases.
For me it's the first V8 and the first complete rebuild in 20+ years :)

Cheers Dave, I don't ignore anyone's thoughts as I could easily forget or miss something :thumbright:
Had planned on filling the box before starting the engine.
As I doubt its going need a cooler for a first start I'm going loop a clear hose between the ports to check its circulates, also going start it neutral.

Little bit more progress, fitted the plug leads and set the distributor for 10* advance, then turned up a plug for the heater hose.

Mounted up the radiator and starting filling only to discover a large water leak
If you remember further back I replaced the timing cover with a later year than that of my block, well one bolt location isn't used on the newer cover and I now know it's drilled into the water jacket #-o
Strip it all down again fit a plug then reassemble.

Last few years around this time I'm usually headed north to spend some time on the Charger.
Unfortunately that trip is postponed for now, this is not a normal year with the current world wide crisis and I hope and pray that it doesn't take too many lives.

On a more positive side my brother sent some progress photos of the block sanding the other night and its taking shape nicely. I've run the engine up a couple of times, adjusted valve lash, set the initial timing, fitted the FBO limit plate and checked the mixture setting.

That’s getting on well considering 👍

Sorry if it’s been covered,is it going to be yellow with the SE roof still? The Cragars in the first pictures are great and the rake is too.

Final colour hasn't been decided yet, I keep changing my mind...it could end up black if Stephen's got enough and this lockdown continues too long.
I'm not planning on any high impact colours and don't intend to refit the vinyl roof, although I liked the look.

I like the side windows on the SE version.

Black would be good.

Black with no vinyl sounds awesome :thumbright:

But if you were going for the vinyl again, black paint would still be the best option (as it disguises the vinyl ;) )

A little bit of tinkering, didn't like the top of the air filter or the nut that held the top on. So gave it a little rub down and repaint then on to the lathe to turn up a new thumb screw to secure it.

I then set about cleaning up the rear light clusters. They're not in good shape at all, most of the mounting tabs are broken and the O/S is badly distorted, I think at some point the car was most probably in or on fire.
Anyway I gave them a rub down, a coat of Satin Black and with the replacement lenses I got they'll do for now till I can chase down another pair or at least the O/S cluster. If anyone has or knows where I can get one, give us a shout :thumbright:

A little bit of an update for you all. I've made a start on sorting out the wiring loom. Started on the rear light section as all the bulb sockets were trashed and currently on the section from the A post to the rear. Then it'll be a case of trying to sort out the under dash hacked mess. Need to make some decisions regarding this section as in what to do about a fusebox, its there but has a lot of corrosion so I'm probably going replace it with a modern Blade fuse type and also whether to add extra relays for the rear lights.
The front under hood section of loom will probably be left to do on the car as I'm planning on converting it to H4 lights and need to see where to place the relays to switch those.

Stephen has sent some photos of the shell which has had coats of zinc primer applied to show the lines and any high/low places.
Hopefully I'll get North sometime around September if our Nicola opens the border
