Wasn’t room for a nut Dave, I had to grind clearance for that. It was just another bit of plate tacked on to double the thickness which would have been fine if it didn’t need torquing to 100 ftlbs…

Well done...

... and for the record, that was not the filthiest Steering Box I had lurking about - I actually selected the cleanest one for your delight and delectation...

Front tyres are 215/75 X15 Pro trac street pro, they are the only Tyres I know of that have that classic shape. They won’t look right on a wider rim, it looks like Cragar have stopped making 15x4 Keystones again. Have you considered ET vintage V? They would look great.

Not keen on throttle cables, I much prefer the lightness and direct action of a rod, especially for racing. Pedal needed a bit adding to take a clevis, and a bit of threaded tube welding into the floor for an adjustable pedal stop. You need one of these with this kind of set up to avoid bending or straining anything with your heavy footedness. Bit of rod bent to suit and a rod end and jobs a sausage. A boot from a Girling slave cylinder does the trick on the firewall.
