Re: Blue's Barracuda
so it's the water borne silver nitrate 'chrome paint' then? it looks pretty much spot on and it is what they use to make mirrors after all so should be good.

Yes I think so, first firm I approached had rows and rows of plastic household light fittings to spray and some large pieces of advertising for Paco Rabbane as well as pieces of modern art. It’s clearly a widely used process now.

Re: Blue's Barracuda
yep, if you can paint it you can 'chrome' it with that process.
Re: Blue's Barracuda

Re: Blue's Barracuda
pretty much, but there's no forwards or backwards. on a mirror they used to put what looks like red oxide over the silver nitrate so it didn't tarnish, in the same way as you now clearcoat over it for protection. there's lots of youtube videos where they 'chrome' everything and anything including whole cars. there's no worry about runs as you 'wash' it on until complete coverage is achieved, the excess drips off. then chemicals are sprayed on and it's blow dried etc. easiest to watch the videos. if you've not seen it done before here's a diy application you can buy using spray bottles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaFJsiBclb0
Re: Blue's Barracuda
yeah but with a mirror, the glass, the clearcoat ,was there first.....
and the oxide layer was last
this is done t'other way around....
i'll get me coat.....

Just looking so sweet.

where's the 'like' button?
Re: Blue's Barracuda
First track outing with the 408 at the Mopar Nats, 11.66 with excessive wheelspin and running out of revs at 3/4 track due to the tiny slicks I’d had to borrow. Car feels really strong and I’m sure there’s more in it once I get the proper size tyres on it.
