Re: Dom's 66 Coronet 500
OK, so I got somewhat sidetracked, her indoors wanted the spare bedroom done up, then I thought with this virus induced 'holiday' that it would be a good opportunity for the garage clearout I've been promising myself.
Anyway, with that done back to the car. I haven't used the MIG for probably 20 years, so I've had a bit of a play about on a practise piece and after a stringy start, got some moderately OK welds that look the same from both sides.
I've also tested a simple tool I made up to press in some ribs where needed and that seems to work OK (with a bit of dolly work afterwards).
So, now to take some patterns from the floor and make up some patches....

This stay at home business is actually pretty useful, we have a Chevy truck nearly ready for the road, but no where to take it!

Granted the time is nice, but as a recently self employed person I'm getting bugger all money. Was just about to start two months work for An Italian company, so that's on hold, lined something else up and the guy went down with Kung flu so....

So, that's the bad bit out
Best make a new bit...

That’s lovely. Room underneath for stuff too
Re: Dom's 66 Coronet 500
Got a wire brush and some rust converter as far up the exposed sections as I could, I'll hit it with some weld-through primer before zipping it up.
Got pretty close with the new patch...
It'll just need a final trim to fit.
Re: Dom's 66 Coronet 500
That's nice work, I reckon you've done that before....
Bet that garage was a bit of a bugger to build?

ooh! machine shop under the garage then. plenty of room (and ventilation) in the 'pit' then.
Re: Dom's 66 Coronet 500
Thank you, not really, I have done it about 50 times in my head after absorbing loads of other peoples resto blogs.
The garage certainly involved more ground work than I'd wanted, but I needed something larger than what was there before...

Thanks, your rebuild is one of the things that gave me the confidence to have a go
