Back on it, after a brief pause to do some paying work

Finished the new panel

I'm pleased with the fit and it's nice to have that gaping hole filled up...

Got it welded in

Ground it down and hit the rest of the floor with some converter.

Very true, the workmanship is outstanding, my daughter in laws 3 series recently needed a sill and floor pan repair, so i thought i can do this, although haven't touched a mig in over 15 years, managed to borrow a GASLESS mig and started to practice, now i quickly realised 1 of two things, either i am so rusty and out of practice or gasless is rubbish.....it was bad, i ended up getting a local fabricator to sort for me...embarassing..

So i think i should source a new gas mig welder and start practicing again, at least i can take one of the excuses away..

Never thought much of the gas less wire, could never get a decent weld with it, was an old spool mind. With my machine I have to swap the earth polarity to run gasless, I won't bother with that again it was yuck.

Thank you for the positive comments, I must admit I'm very pleased (and surprised) with how well it's turned out. As I've said before, I've had the benefit of watching some of you guys do it first so thank you. Also I've had way more time to throw at it that I ever would normally.

Re: the gasless MIG, I had one when I was a youngster and it was awful, or maybe that was Me...

Awesome job Dom. Well done.
Re welding. I changed job / life just over a year ago , having been self employed since I was 20. ( I'm now 48 )
I used to be quite competent at tig welding , when I was 19 , passing tests required to do MOD work.
Anyway, spotted a tig covered in dust in a corner , and was keen to have a play , as no currant employee could use it.
Certainly rusty to say the least !!!!!!!!!!
Lots more settings etc. Frustrating more than anything, but I can join metal together albeit not shiney or pretty !!! I'll keep trying !!!

I've always wanted to have a go with TIG, but mainly to weld aluminium and I've been told you need to spend £££ on gear to do that

Finally got the paint in to finish off, (even remembered to drill new holes for the accelerator pedal).

The centre console is pretty tatty, so I'm going to try and freshen that up before reinstalling it.

So I've bagged some blue vinyl to have a go at covering the centre console. The footwell kick panels are also in awful condition, so I thought I'd have a practise on them first.

It was just too much to ask of the material to stretch round the bottom door radius bit, I'll have to make up a metal cover piece and paint it up.
