Hand sewing the cover in place is definitely a job only to be considered under lockdown conditions....

Ok, it's a bit lumpy, but I don't think it looks too bad, certainly an improvement on how it was before.

I decided to leave the ribbed part of the console trays well alone, except for a good clean. I did go with a slightly bluey silver for the surround instead of the standard grey silver. I'm pretty pleased with it. Eventually I'll also use that for the armrest plates when I deal with the door panels, which are tatty and don't match the seats.

Also got the steering wheel back in, but not before I re-silvered the gauge, dash and glovebox surrounds, which has made a huge difference :)

Well it's done, from this

Well I say it's done, I still need to do up inside the rear arches and up over the back axle, but that can be a job for the winter. The stainless sill trims are beaten to hell, I guess I'll have to replace those one day.

Having seen the price of a new shifter slide, I found some 1mm thick black plastic and made one. The console is back together and ready to fit, albeit temporarily until it has to come back out when I sort some carpet.

I've also done taken out all the interior chrome window surrounds and polished them up, they all looked pretty rusty, but all but one cleaned up nicely. After my sewing lesson on the steering wheel, I also re-stitched the sun visors as the original stitching had rotted and they were coming apart.

Having seen the price of floor bung kits from the states, I've sourced most of them cheaply over here, all except the 44mm / 1-3/4" ones, which is a size nobody seems to stock. The only ones I've found are from a company in Australia, fortunately just up the road from a mate of mine, so I'm hoping he can bag some and send them over for me. He owes me, last time I went out to Aus I had to buy a huge suitcase from the charity shop to take over all the MG parts he'd been ordering and having sent to my office...

Your sill trims might be repairable, if other models are anything to go by you will find undamaged originals hard to find and staggeringly expensive. I'm told Lance McCormack at Romance of Rust is mustard with trim, I was going to see if can repair some of mine.
