Quick update,
For some reason i never took ant decent pics of the engine bay work, probably because apart from stripping, metal cleaning there was'nt a great deal of crap, had to make good the bulkhead both sides but that was it really, i'd already done the doors and front quarters so the shell was prepped for
primer, download/file.php?mode=view&id=128742

To be honest the panel fit could be better, but doing this in bits and not having the space to fully assemble meant i could'nt really test and then correct crap fitting!
but considering this the gapping aint horrendous , and more importantly not faked! some many so called restored cars have wired or gobbed gaps!
The old girl has some gob but its not covered in it unlike most Yank resto's and almost all E types!

Ideally should have pulled the motor, but i just did'nt have any where to store it!
I made up a up and over frame to support the front of the motor while i removed the K frame.
The four large bolts all came our ok, tons of release spray and slowly one by one they came out, id read that sometimes depending on how much corrosion there is in the front rails these bolts can and do break there captive nuts off, big trouble!

Painting a mica based clear over base in such a small space was a challenge lol....................

I guess it was about this point that i seriously began to wonder what the f--- id let myself infor!
Id virtually done all the work that gets covered up, actually prepping the whole shell for paint is a big job in a equipped body shop, but in my car hole
i was beginning to think it could'nt be done [-X

Yep its snug alright :D download/file.php?mode=view&id=128818

I blasted and properly clean the K Frame, which was pretty much perfect , its got a bit of distortion where its had a jack under it,but normal use really
All the gubbins were Eco Phosted, and black 2k'd...........
The whole of the underside was refinished in U Pol,Raptor Epoxy,
Cleaned and prept the block for paint, this was just put on with a brush, when dry the frame and mounts were installed,
