It’s come up reasonably well, fine for a 10 footer. :thumbright:

Whole lot looks ok from 10 foot and is straighter than it’s ever been, so good enough to get me to the winter. :thumbright:

Cheers Andy, but it’s not in great shape close up. As long as everyone promises to approach squinting, I’ll be happy.

Think both the ones I have are beyond economical repair, so at some point the bullet will have to be bitten!

Cheers Ali. :)

Went for a drive once the rain had subsided a bit and definitely still stuttering / stumbling when pulling away, not sure why. Also noticed that gear changes are now out of sync, doesn’t seem to want to change from 2nd to third until you back off the throttle, then suddenly changes up. :-k

Got a coolant puke from somewhere further back too, I only noticed when I got back and saw the patch on the floor which would have been somewhere at the back of the block or around that area.

Slightly concerned about the 3 hour drive to Pod, but running out of time to figure it all out.

Few bits and bobs today, now that everything is running much better, thanks to a tune up at Pod, courtesy of Blue and Pete. (Cheers, Chaps!)

Cut my finger to ribbons replacing the door weather strips, surprisingly awkward and blood everywhere, but look much better.

It decided to fight me today by not opening on the drivers side with the external handle. Took it all to bits and absolutely no discernible reason why that I can see. Everything moving and operating as it should, nothing missing, just won’t open. Really odd. Opens from the internal handle and all the movement the same. Lathered it all in wd40 and will see if it has any effect.

In the meantime, fun with mirrors. My remote mirror has never worked, as someone has cut all the cords. No idea why. Anyway, sourced a decent second hand piece from Duncan and was going to spray it up and fit it, if I can get a paint match, but while I was there, thought I might as well see if I could use the old mirror and refurb the internals using the new one.

What a faff! Managed to get the mirror end of the old one apart, which really needs a bendy screwdriver that I don’t have, realised you can’t feed the adjustment end through the holes. So my obvious thought process was, disassemble the in car end on the new one, thread the wires through the mirror case of the old one, reassemble the in car end and bingo.

No… decided best to destroy the old cut one first to be sure and can’t get the wires out without destroying everything, which makes me think if only butcher the new one getting them back in. You can compress the twiddler end (!?) and trap it open, which allows access to the three heads, but can’t for the life of me get the buggers out.

Slowly, slowly disassembly and scratchy beard whilst I figure out if it’s doable without destroying it all, so old mirror back on for now while I decide if it’s doable or worth it.

If I thought I could get a good paint match, I’d just spray the new one, but it’s quite interesting seeing how it goes together.

New one is all there and working, but the in car end has seen better days, so if I can figure out how to get the old one apart without killing it, I’ll do the same to this one as well and swap them once the top end is all together.

Jess got bored, so decided to write a new list of jobs for the wall.

I know the new mirror adjuster is somewhat corroded but won’t it clean up enough to thread the nut on?

Door lock, with the door open use a screwdriver to engage the lock and see if it will spring open with the outside door handle. If it won’t then something need tweaking as you are running out of travel, probably needs a rod bending or something.
