Thats what I'd do first too. If the back end has been badly repaired it might need a good body man to fix it.

Ok, I’ve re-read that and you’ve lost me. Surely that would mean I wouldn’t have brake lights right across the back? I don’t want to lose that.

It works, other than the fact I’d lose one of my brake lights.

Is there room to fit the LED panel above the bulb and pointing downwards rather than outwards? Would imagine it would still be bright enough.

Currently sat in the garden in the sun, surrounded by parts, trying to figure that very thing out with a beer! 8-) :occasion5:

or..... is the led panel slim enough to fit in the centre of the light (behind the reflector bit) without any cutting? so where you originally said but no cutting, lol. it looks plenty bright enough but still quite red. what colour led's are they? apparently green led's should be used behind red lenses to give an orange light. it works, i did it with '55 chevy rear lights. :thumbright:

No, sadly won’t squeeze between. Going to test again tomorrow if it will work on one side of the tail light bulb in the end sections, without causing a wired shadow. I’ve been cleaning up the bits and trying to figure out what sort of foam to use to replace the brittle foam gaskets that were on there.

The photos do make them look quite red, but they are much more orange than they look. The LEDs are yellow. Not heard of using green, but will bear that in mind for future reference. :thumbright:

very handy for testing and putting feeds to various units to test they work. (you still have to be fairly cautious as some units don't like 12volts)
Thanks for the recommendation on this, I’ve finally got round to using it and it’s the best bit of equipment I’ve bought for ages! :thumbright:

I reckon that’s about it, brake lights retained, minimal damage done to the light fixing and easily plugged if removed! :)

Well, from the looks of the photos, I’m doing it standing on me head! :D

Doesn’t seem to matter which way up on my phone I take them, upside down they will be.

*edit* Aha! Fixed it! :D

The bumper has gone away with my Mate to be sculpted a bit, as that was bent too and then I can sort out a slosh of paint and some new gaskets and we are back in business.

A quick mock up with the spare bumper seems to show an awful lot straighter than it was, though. :thumbright:

In the meantime, I’ve got back to my light cluster craft and this makes me very happy! :)

They even flash at the right sort of rate. 8-)

What are they like with the brake lights on whilst you are indicating, or have the side lights on and are braking and indicating at the same time - lots of combinations there on that set up!

Well done!

A good question and the quick answer is, no idea!

Still testing and ran out of time for today, but worst case is I have to disconnect the brake light on that part of the cluster, I guess. :-k
