Superbirds for sale in Holland
£191,000 each

...and then a convertible Superbird in Germany, looks great in limelight, and only £77,000.
My German is not great, but I think it says its a tribute based on a Coronet. It actually looks the business I think, but maybe its just the colour.

The only briefly built Plymouth Road Runner Superbird was the tuned version of the Plymouth Road Runner with special stickers, the unique horn that imitates the cartoon character Raod Runner, the giant spoiler at the rear and the aerodynamic front. The Superbird was supposedly only built to convince NASCAR driver Richard Petty to come back to the racing team in Plymouth. He won eight races in his blue Superbird in 1970.

The Nascar regulations required that at least 500 vehicles be built to get approval. Plymouth delivered 1,935 vehicles to American dealers. Around 1000 original vehicles still exist today.

The Superbird Cabrio on offer pays homage to the original vehicles that never came onto the market as a convertible. A Plymouth Coronet provides the basis for this. Original parts were used during the conversion, if they can still be found. An important detail, the wing comes from an original superbird. The fenders are also from an original vehicle. The front, folding headlights, air scoops and all other special Superbird body parts have been reproduced by a Superbird specialist.

The unique convertible is powered by a 7.2 liter engine with 375 hp

I think that Will or James Bratby could confirm that aerodynamically speaking, the rear wing wouldn't add much to top speed or stability on a convertible.

Ok, I completely missed that too!!

I still like it, even if the wing makes no difference to aerodynamics with a big open cabin to increase drag.

I was going to post something like this earlier today but didnt get time whilst at work. That's the whole point to me. Whilst the nose and rear wing obviously make the Superbird & Daytona the special cars they are, they are there for a very specific purpose and are very much an acquired taste :?
So why go and negate that purpose by adding them to a convertible? #-o :geek:
