1/8 Scale Hot Rod Kitbash

Post by LurkinLimey »

Not Mopar, but thought it might be of interest!
One of my lockdown projects was to build an od Monogram Model T kit I had in my stash.
Got inspired by Andy Fadster's Twister and threw in an old Lindberg blown fuel engine.
Lots of scratch building involved in the fuel system and headers - Thought I'd share a few pictures before I blow it apart for painting.
Don't really know where to go with paint - Could be Rat Rod red primer or satin black, or show rod candy green.
Any thoughts?

If it was a real one I always have a soft spot for the rat-rod rough-satin-black-with-old-speedshop-logos look.
But this candy green sounds kinda awesome to be honest (always said I wanted my charger lime/apple/candy coloured...)

Lovely job by the way.

Thanks Morgan - Yeah Rat Rod it is but I'm going with Red Oxide primer with a Red Interior.

Aquired another Big T kit so I think I'll be going the '60s show rod candy green with that one.
Just as soon as I've finished my 1/8 scale '32 Highboy....

That model looks really cool, other than the tape I thought it was finished, not awaiting paint. Great job.

If anyone's looking for more parts, the below may be of interest (although i'd suspect they're 1:25 rather than 1:8.

Nice work! I like the idea of candy green, or some other 60's show paint, e.g. scallops.

I often used candy paints when I built models years ago - I don't have the eyesight or steady hand any more.
