Just a quick note to highlight how excellent the Superstock event was at Shakespeare County Raceway Hot Rod Drags.

Big congratulations to Dave Billadeau for winning the event, a very seasoned racer with many years experience.

He proved conclusively that you do not have to have a massively powered fire-breathing monster to WIN at the race track. A lesson to us all.

I think there should also be recognition of the amount of work and vision that Pete Walton displayed to make the class a reality.

Pete has a real passion for the Class and the purist nature of the racing.
He has worked tirelessly to make it work at the Dragstalgia event and now the Hot Rod Drags. Well Done Pete!


Well done to all the participants as well - the Fire up lanes looked brilliant with all the classic American cars lined up - many with Period Sign-writing.


I sincerely hope the class grows and expands and more grass roots American cars of all brands get involved.

Yes, it was brilliant. Well done to all involved. I though the Bilydoo car sounded really angry growling round the pits and looked the part too.

It was absolute class. Daughter got a bit aggy as it seemed that every Anglia and Gasser in the UK had to go down before the shootout!
Sun gods were smiling too as not 5 mins after the last cars went down the 1/4, the heavens opened!!!!!

Special mention: When they set off on Sat, I stood next to Dons Superbird, Had Pete Walton's old Barracuda behind me and Dave B's car infront..........

My entire torso was shaking to the uncorked big blocks..........

Wife asked why I was smiling...........I said she'd never understand the bond between a man and a big bad V8.....it moves the soul!

Sunday was even better

Gutted I couldn't be there for longer, but what I saw was great

A mid 11 second car is probably the best bracket car most times you are the hunted so if your very good on the tree as dave b is you stand a damn good chance of winning, most racers in the faster car are a bit to eager and often red light launching to soon to give chase,
it would have been better if the win lights lit to show the crowd who had won as some times it was very close at the big end, i will be joining in this nect yr but as a hunter i reckon, might call the car red light bandit ha ha,,,

yep a red is easy when your playing catchup. nice to see your big lump running where it should always have been, no disrespect intended, what has changed matey ???/

doesnt help that tree lights come down a lot slower than normal but i like it as it keeps you on your toe,s. when i lost to ethan lisle in semi final we both had 0.1 reaction times. i,m well up for this class in the future

Dunc you better get that Challenger back. Then you could be the "Red light bandit" Bill Bagshaw had a few Bandits Hemi Dart, Challenger, Dart sport. I think there was even a Pinto. Picture shows the Pinto in Bagshaws colours but after he had sold it
