Bbody Upper control arm mount

Post by Matt74 »

Does anyone know how thick the upper control arm mounts are on a bbody? I need to make some new ones.

Cheers.

Do you mean the plate with a 90deg bend at each end for the UCAs to mount ?
Happy to go measure mine if you want ?

That's it Morgan and yes please if it isn't too much trouble. Don't worry if you have to jack the car up and take the wheel off etc!

Apologies for the delay. As usual it turned into a bigger pain than it should have been (not your fault; couldnt get battery out of micrometer!)

Right -
Pics 1 and 2 - The mounting seems to be double skinned at the bush mount. Far as I can see its the same but doubled over. I measured only one thickness. It looks to be (allowing for a little fudge) 1/8".

Its tricky to measure as metal is a bit wibbly and there is underseal etc BUT hopefully good enough for you to assess what thickness.
Measurements taken at A and B in both mm and thou".

Pics3+4 - A

Pics 5+6 - B

Hopefully clear as mud...
Let me know.

PS - I have left her jacked up and wheel off so let me know if you need any others. Otherwise I will reassemble.

That's great Morgan. Thanks for going out of your way to help.
Allowing for the underseal I think they must be 3mm thick so I'll order some material and get fabbin'.

Thanks again :thumbright:
