Regular readers may recall my tribulations at the last MOT when my attention was drawn to the fact that 1968 front indicators have to be amber and cannot interfere with the white sidelights...
People suggested various solutions but I got obsessed by the idea of not modifying the original appearance - so what I needed was an 1157 bulb with one white filament and one amber.
I found only one supplier -
http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.c ... ds-etc.php
and here is the result (LED on the right, original on the left) -
The white is much blue-er than the filament bulb, and the amber switches 'instantly' so it looks as though the lamps are out of phase.
The housing could take a much larger bulb, so I might fabricate something brighter using the LED 'halo' lamps on ebay, but these bulbs do the trick and require zero changes to the car.
