Sealed beam head lamps

Post by Mark B »

Hi All,

Could anyone please recommend a supplier for sealed beam headlamps? The long beam 5.5" diameter lamp has gone on my car, it has 2 prongs on the rear. The current lamp is a General Electric but doesn't seem to have a code.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I assumed twin head Light challengers used the same diameter lights, 5 3/4” (5.750”)

Mine seem to measure 5 1/2“ diameter for some reason, General Electric seem to supply them in the States. Maybe 5 3/4" will fit.

No old school motor shops around here unfortunately.

Hi Mark,

I've a set of sealed beams that were working when they came off mine and I think the inner ones were GE - can check later tonight if you want. Changed them out when re-wiring the fronts with a relay setup. Pretty sure they're 5 3/4 but can check.

I changed mine over to a modern day headlamp years ago, if one goes you can just change the bulb, just need to fit a relay when doing it, so much brighter and they look the same.
Are we there yet dad ..... 10 to the gallon but worth it.

bog standard style second cheapest halogens will not overload your light switch. and will be yellowy enough to look more like sealed beam candles.
second cheapest because the cheapest is just a Chinese firework in a glass bulb :)

I always use this company...

Just search their site for exactly what you need. I like the Autopal lights as they have the same curve to the glass as originals. Some of the new ones are very flat and look daft in my opinion
