Very first MOPAR - 68 Charger - bulbs

Post by Dootch »

Howdy. Just managed to fulfill the dream.. 383ci 68 on my drive, running well and wants for little. Very fortunate & still sinking in!

I wondered if anyone could help me with a couple of simple questions - if I wanted to put the front parking lamps back to standard US, what bulbs should I buy? It's been "UK'd by drilling the light units and installing small old school sidelight bulbs with the main bulbs it seems being reddish indicators

I'd rather them constant" old school" flashing when I switch on a turn signal?

Also the car has been well set up on a traditional dizzy.. Is it fairly easy to wire in a Tic toc tach as it doesn't have one.

All advice to a long term lurker & very happy new member appreciated

Welcome, great choice of car, if you want it to look original you need orange stop and tail bulbs, or get the stanard clear ones ang some yellow / orange bulb paint, the more coats you put on the darker it gets, why not wire in a normal rev counter unless you already have a tic toc tach. photos would be good.
Are we there yet dad ..... 10 to the gallon but worth it.

As Derek said the original bulb will be a twin filament, like a stop/tail bulb but amber

now these things have offset bayonet pins so in theory you shouldn’t be able to put anything else in there

hopefully if you have a look the original bulb may still be there and the previous incumbent will have only moved the parking light wire to the separate sidelight unit

if you’re lucky move that wire back and you should be back to stock

Welcome.

Oh, and wot Del said - unless you already have the ralleye(sp?) dash with tic-toc-tac I'd just go with a third party. In fact I have got the posh dash and gave up with the tic-toc-tac. Nice and easy - 12V and coil feed - done.

You can keep the original single front side/turn bulb if you use a bulb with one white and one amber filament. LED of course...
