OK but advancing or retarding the cam by 4 * would only add or remove approx 8* from ignition timing , you'd still be in a ballpark of sensible
and you are not if it shows 30* at idle, but if it runs it runs.. but something isn't quite right
i suspect you are firing no.2 or no. 8 when you should be firing No1 a lot of work to strip and rebuild if its just mis aligned leads or bad phasing of the dizzy trigger/pickup
i'd be inclined to set up the cam as per the cam card decide if you are lacking in torque lower in the rpm range later and advance it if you want to.
effect will be more pronounced if your headers merge a long way back

Thanks Dave,im going to try and rephase the dizzy then.Im no expert by any means and i haven't messed with cars since the late 90's and most of what i did know has long since been knocked out of my brainbox.
