a couple of 8.75" questions..

Post by Stu Twin »

a. Is there a torque setting for the diff filler plug on the 489 casing?
b. The brake tee that screws into the top of the driver side axle housing was a bit loose. Would this cause any fluid to leak out of the axle when it's running? I've seen it described as a vent and it does have a vent-type cap on the top. Is it venting the axle? I ask as there is signs of some fluids around that area.
TIA,
Stu.

Diff plug is a tapered thread so just sensibly tight. That is the axle breather that also holds the brass block in place so there will always be some oil moisture in that area but there shouldn't be enough to cause it to drip.

Thanks Blue, the tee was finger loose so it could have caused some mist to form around that area.
There's no O ring is there?

No O ring, just a washer between the vent and the brass block.
