Trans extension housing gasket access??

Post by MattH »

Quick question, does the trans need to come out to remove the trans extension housing to reach and change the gasket or can it be removed just by taking the prop off?

This is on a 727, not 904, but Im thinking they will be similar.

You can do it in situ, you just need a pair of expansion pliers to spread the circlip on the rear bearing once you've unbolted it, can lend you a pair if you want.

You can remove the tailshaft housing Ok,

There is a big snap ring under the plate held on with 2 cross head screws, so that is a fight without the correct expanding Circlip pliers....you then have to fiddle the tail shaft out from over and around the neutral lockout rod...

Thank you both. Not a job I've tackled before. Query was as a result of a conversation, I hopefully dont need to do it yet!
