Mopar muscle cars in Manitoba, Canada, LOOOK!

Post by Anonymous »

Well I'm just back from a trip to Canada so I thought I'd share some cool pics etc. There were no old cars running around because noone wants to take their collectible out in slushy salty conditions. I saw so many rotted out 1990s cars on the road that I was glad people were preserving their old mopars (and Datsuns!) I decided to try and find out if there were any mopar buffs in the place I was staying in so we phoned round a few people and after a chain of about 4 phonecalls I was speaking to a guy who had some Mopars! His name is Pat and when he's at home, he surrounds himself with Mopars, moparabilia, and mopar buddies. When I called him up for the first time, he had a bunch of people over for a poker game, He handed me to one guy, Russ, who not only had a 69 Fury, but it was same engine, convertible like mine, and even the same colour mine was originally. Russ said he knew a young chap called Jason who was into rods but also had 2 or 3 69 Furys. I HAD to meet these people!

So we went to Pats house. We drove up the nicely ploughed driveway to see a 1980s Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 with a snowplough implement up front! First Mopar!

Pat invited us in and through to the newly constructed insulated heated garage. The place was so clean it was like just being in another room in the house . I mean you could walk around in your socks. There are several moparish-shaped car covers and some fully exposed mopars such as a converible orange 'Cuda. There was a four poster ramp with a Dart GT on it, the latest purchase from USA. I was one of the first people to see it.

Around the room were engine stands with V8s on, and around the walls are Mopar advertsing posters, signs and the like, most are originals. I walk past a stack of original new old stock polyglass tyres to one of the covered cars. The cover is peeled back and there stands a plum crazy challenger convertible, then a bright yellowey green challenger . A third cover is lifted, it's another challenger convertible. There was another car part dismantled, but I was so overwhelmed with moparness at the time, I can't even remember what it was now. Maybe another Challenger.

Pat and family/friends were so welcoming and I have made some contacts in that part of the world now! I gave Pat my copy of the MMA newsletter which I had brought out to Canada with me.

Pat is a member of a different MMA, the Manitoba Mopar Association! http://www.mbmopar.com/

Brilliant! He likes his 'verts.

I did similar in Indiana; the guy was a farmer with a temp controlled garage of a similar size. He collected Superbirds in the same way. He had a lovely old GTX and his "fun" car was a 545 Chevelle on Nitrous.

Great stuff, we need more pictures!!
