master cylinder bleeding

Post by Anonymous »

Hi do you have to bleed the master cylinder off the car or can you do it on the car with your "Good" mate and the pump the foot way :? as i can't fined a fitting to bleed the front part of the cylinder as it's bigger than the one on the rear of the cylinder.

You need to bleed it off the car, you may not get full travel when it's bolted into the car and have trapped air which you won't get out. You can bench bleed it by pressing your rubber gloved fingers firmly over the ports, messy but it works....

Don't "over-travel" the piston, as you could damage a seal on any ridge that may have formed. Short strokes are the order of the day

  iv heard that before ;) it seems to have worked and i only shot my self in the eye once :tongue3:

do you take out the screw in the rear of the cylinder as it seems to only be there to stop the piston from coming out in the packing :?
