Core plugs

I am stripping the paint from my block before the rebuild begins, how do you remove old core plugs?

I was told my some helpfull soul passing the garage last night fill it with water and freeze it, great help, our freezer isn't that big and her in doors would not be happy if I tried.

Hammer, pliers and screwdriver. Bang! Punch to one side of center. If the screwdriver goes through twist the plug sideways in the hole with the driver and pull it out with the pliers. Never re-use old plugs so no worries about destroying these.

Thanks Dave, I was thinking about doing it this way, but wasn't sure, it will be done later today.

its also worth putting some sealer around the edge of the plug before fitting,and use a large socket to drive the plug in so you get it straight

Make sure the socket isn't so big that it jams in as the core plug squeezes in!
