my guess is its a gear setup

blower sits too far back....but has to otherwise

1) manifold would have unequal lengths to all cylinders..central at least pairs them up

2) to make that hole in the hood you'd need to avoid main support bars

bring it too far forward and you'd have to cut them.

and as one poster points out...no it doesn't have its own exhaust header...thats just where they go on a 6 :)

id say the blower is too big for the aplication so its being under driven ,or possibly driven with zero boost just for looks.
too much is never enough

its an aussie car

more likely the former rather than the latter

its not mad max ya know :)

could be one of those units used on those big diesles that have a blower and a turbo

spin the blower fast on tickover and cranking to get the stuff to ignite and then gear it down or out of the equation as the turbo kicks in.
