Gear swap

Post by Turnip »

Hi all,
Does anyone know someone down here in Kent that could swap some gears in my Dana?

I was going to do it myself then read the manual :read2:

I think the guy that used to work at Hausers took about 4 hours to change the gear set on my Dana; as it is trial an error with the pinion shimming and you have to take it in and out all the time - it's a right pain and very heavy!!

I don't know if Blue would be up for a go???

I think Bacca is in the 'States at the moment.

I'd guess Blue would do it, he's good with engineers blue and shims...hence the name! ;)
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

In the past I've used Paul Mitchell in Seven Kings, Essex (02085998330), His prices were reasonable so I've never got around to buying the tools to set up gears.

A friend of mine and I have recently used Paul for some gear work on recommendation from Blue and like he says he is very reasonable. Paul (GS Autos) has since moved to Collier Row, Romford and can be contacted on 01708 767001 - gs-autos@talktalkbusiness.net

I went down there 2 weeks ago and also seems to have some interesting Mopar work on the go.....

Hi Turnip,

Back in Blighty and back on the Case (bad pun time).
Setting gear mesh is all the same stuff, but all non 8-3/4 axles need a case stretching gadget, for setting up carrier preload blah/blah!
Biggest problem is you need the whole axle outta the car to do it.
Thats why most folks like the 8-3/4 system.

Anyways, always eager to help Kentish folks.

Bacman.
