If you keep the lines higher than the pump, that stops drainback.
Wish i'd known that years ago, when i had an external system. I used to have to pull the distributor out and spin the pump drive in reverse, to get the oil pressure up, everytime i took it to the track.
Nice idea though.

I have external oiling and no drain back / need to prime for the reasons Mick stated
