make sure the trans has a soft mount and not mounted solid also if its on a soft mount take all the mount bolts out and check that the arse end is not having to fight to line the mount/bolt holes up if all good you need to check prop uj,s and angles etc etc

The reason that it kept on breaking tail shafts was the motor and gearbox were moving back when the car launched, there was quite a lot of flex in the ears mounted to the water pump housing. It needed a couple of check bars to stop the motor moving aft. Its made worse as the car was launching on the trans brake.

In this picture you can clearly see the witness mark left by the tail shaft there was also a corresponding mark on the gearbox tail shaft.

Scott Carter kept breaking tailshaft and eventually the box was stripped and found that the mainshaft was bent. Blue you remember this one.
New mainshaft and all was well.
Scotts car uses standard engine and gearbox mounts with a 512 cubic engine and 727 gearbox.

I think Mickey was driving it at the time that pic was taken? I think it's one of my pics (posted on here yonks ago), and there was another of him standing near the car with his racing gear on :-k

I'll have a dig around....
