And if so how much more as I did find a few rust hole in the boot that he all so did not realize at the time ! I just wont to be fair with him

I'm going to say this....
If the VIN says XP29J8B123456.... Then it's a fake.

This is a dodgy VIN, and therefore a dodgy car.
If I see it at the Nat's I'll show it's a wrong 'un.
Keep away from it.

IMHO whatever the outcome good or bad - the purchase is done and dusted- I wouldn't pay any more , like wise I wouldn't ask for any refunds if the car has any nasty surprises ... that's life

A great shame the original engine is missing. I'd suggest that if You're dissapointed with the car that you cut your losses and sell it cheap to someone on here who has a hemi kicking around.

I might be wrong Jim but I think Si is just using that number as an example of how the decoder works/ looks....I will stand corrected though mate..

Yeah but the XP29J8B bit is still difficult to explain. It should start XS.

It was built at the Hamtramck plant though which was one of the plants building Hemi versions.

I would be interested to see if the VIN on the dash looks original, as the numbers are special fonts. I am not suggesting you post a pic of it here as it is viewable to the world, but e-mail me a photo I could give an opinion based on what I have seen before.

Jim and Duncan probably could answer better than me if they saw it, and as was siad above, find the stampings on the rad surround and bulkhead and see what they are. I have found mine with my shell stripped down so i know the dash and body match.

I think the XP is probably right, - it's the 'J' that's wrong.

Is it this one?
