Jeep SRT8

Post by SteveCase »

Anyone had one of these? Went to look at one yesterday, awesome bit of kit, BUT when l was checking out the instruments, the ave mpg came up as 7.6!!!!!!!!! Is this all you can get out of them? As it was going to be an everyday car, l couldn't live with that mpg!

I saw one.... well I heard it first 8-) driving thru St Albans over Xmas and in a moment of madness thought it might be a good idea to get one a cool daily

I'd also be curious to hear any first hand experience of mpg & getting them serviced..... didn't Jon Connolly have one a while ago? :?

I don't know Rob, the servicing is a good point, every 6000 is reccommended! :read2: Looks like l may be going for an 'Overland' instead! Shame really, as you say, the sound of these is amazing, as is the peformance, sub 5 seconds 0-60, and low 13 quarters straight out of the box! :thumbright:

It would be the 2009–2010 Grand Cherokee 5.7 L Hemi V8 with 357hp and 389 lb·ft of torque I would prefer to be honest.

Plenty of power and still has the off road capability. Only very slightly less MPG than the smaller engine versions.

You have trouble finding them for sale though.

I ended up buying a 2000 4.0 limited after searching for a good V8 version.
Most had high mileage and a tow bar. Or quite a difference in price.
The SRT 's rarely come up for sale. Would like a blast in one though !!!
;)
Enjoying mine so far. Servicing is every 7500 miles. Getting about 22mpg I reckon :thumbright:

i’ve got the diesel variant, the instruments are calibrated in US gallons

so in English that 7.6 is about 9mpg :D

in reality I find that on board trip computers often lie

probably to make them look better

so it probably is about 7.6mpg English

someone’s been having fun 8-)

I already have a 2000, 4.0L Cherokee, but now has 127,000 miles on it, although it's still a great car, even went down to Cornwall in it for the new year, it's ALWAYS returned 19.8 on the trip computer, and the wife uses it every day in winter too!

JC has one and I think he will confirm they are pretty juicy.

Mine has the 5.7 Hemi and weighs 6600lbs so will never be good either...........

Fuel consumption is embarrassing.

Single figures most the time.. You may see 15 - 17 mpg but no more

Tyres pads discs servicing expensive

BUT

All that is forgiven when you boot it .... Performance and noise is incredible

I've seen 172 on the clock ( autobahn )
They handle like they're on rails and will keep up with m5 / m3 / amg etc

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one

10.169 @ 130.17 ... Smallblock Dodge Ram pick up truck - motor only.

My trip computer has packed up , so only a guess on mpg really (well judging it against the Ram which returned 18 )
I will be ordering a new one so it will be interesting to see. ;)

Can't remember where I read it (did a net search but nowt), but I think an owner stated that the real issue is that the proper tyres for these are circa 400-500 a corner.......

.........and you'll be lucky to get 10-15k out of a set.........

I would love one........but would probably take the 300c version over the GC. 8-)
