A body lower ball joints

Post by Drag Addict »

I do apologise that I only seem to post daft questions, but I've got another.... What is the difference between the lower ball joints come steering arms on a late 60's A body, drum brake to disc brake? The ball joint, bolt spacing and track rod end taper seem the same, what am I missing??

There is no difference in the Ball joints, just the knuckles.

"A" bodies went to the larger Ball joints in '72.

No difference, the lower ball joints are the same, it's the spindles that are different.

Looking on ebay, why are they part numbered differently? The only difference I can see is one casting may be shaped slightly differently to give clearance to the caliper, or is it just a marketing thing? Back in the seventies we used to sell the same dash switches, but they were priced and numbered differently depending on if it was in a jaguar box or an Austin/Morris box!

Found it! They are not the same, the bolts on the drum brakes are half inch, disc stub fixings are 9/16". Nothing that a drill can't sort out!
