I've got a Hemi in my Hemi!

Post by Pete »

At Last!!!

Picked up my engine after the ill-fated blow up about 2 years ago.
A very expensive and frustrating experience but all forgotten now as I can finally start building the Superstock Challenger up.

It will not be a match for Tig's Monster engined Challenger, but at least I can have some fun and dial in a half-decent time.

Thanks Gavin.

We hadto take the carbs off to get it in and it STILL did not fit.
Ended up taking the carb studs out of the manifold and it went in with a fag paper's clearance.

All dyno'ed up and ready for action.

World Products cross bolted Block.

Stage V heads ported by ICE.

Stage V stainless roller rocker gear.

572ci - 4,5" x 4.5"

8 bolt crank with Chubby size mains.

JE Pistons - 11:1 compression.

Bullet Solid Roller cam - .758" Lift.

Pete Jackson Gear Drive.

Tunnel Ram with 2 x 850 DP 4150 Holleys.

Not great horsepower but a surprisingly high torque figure.

It is going in my full weight Dodge Challenger.

Well, we managed to get one in a Toyota Rav 4 complete with manifold and dominators, but you have to look closely!

You could paint that red and call it 'the little red rav' and be the next Bill Maverick Golden....

Sounds like a nice engine Pete - have you had it on a dyno? If so what were the figures like ?

Yes, its been on a Dyno at EDA (great blokes).

It's not going to set the world alight, but it was reasonable.

I was surprised how much torque it made - 720 Ft /lbs!

Not bad for a Hemi. They are usually revvy but not torquey.
