Door catch failure

Post by GJUK »

Hi,
My 68 Darts passenger door catch has been playing up, to the point now where it has lost all its 'catch-i-ness' and no longer 'hooks' on to the door.

The button to release to the door on the exterior side of the door is stuck down and stiff. The retaining 'C' metal plate on the door has no spring.

The lock indicator - on the top of the door where your arm would rest, no longer moves up and down.

Best way in to these, remove the door card and have a look around? Haynes manual does not appear very specific to the workings inside of the door.

Yep, remove the door card and have a look around

The external door release, internal door release and internal lock button are connected to the lock itself by rods and levers

If your external release button is stuck in sounds like everything needs a good lube
