The rotor arm on a big block runs anti-clockwise.

Smallblocks are clockwise with the dizzy at back of block. Yours should be at the front and run anticlockwise.

Don't know what else to tell you, all big block dizzies run anticlockwise, have you changed anything engine wise since it was last running?

I am sure everyone would like to help you, so that you can use the car.

As stated by all the others, all Big Block Mopars the distributor rotor arm turns anti-clockwise. Even a Mopar with the 4/7 swap cam swap, it still runs anti-clockwise.

The same Anti Clockwise Big Block rules apply with std or aftermarket distributor as does the firing order of;18436572.

I run coil packs, which eliminates the distributor, but the firing order also stays the same.

When you take the distributor cap off, does the rotor arm & shaft still feel engaged. As in, you can not freely turn by hand ?

Have you recently removed the distributor ?

Even if you put the distributor back in the engine, but out of time/phase, it should still turn anti clockwise

If you can upload a video clip from your phone via photobucket to this site or post a clip on YouTube with a link. A Short video/film clip is very helpful in a diagnosis situation.

May be useful. Block is viewed from the front.

Great point, I never even considered boat engines. Guess it's a possibility of a boat engine.

After having a quick browse it would seem firing order remains the same.

I have a 383 in the roadrunner and have had the dizzy of an played with the timing more times than I care to remember. Definitely runs anticlockwise.

Have you ever had it running? the only reason I can think that it might turn clockwise would be if the starter is turning the wrong way.

Or of the engine is not what you think it is. Post pics or videos

Just a thought, but does the op have a clock that turns the wrong way?
