Battery

Just put a normal Halfrauds one in mine.
Been in their three years and still going strong (touch wood).
Would put in an Optima if funds allowed and mine was dead, but they are £££!

I wouldn't bother with an Ultima for our sort of cars. My mate Ritchie runs an auto electrical shop and he gave me the lowdown...
The simple test of whether a battery will last is the mfrs guarantee, usually 1,3 or 5 yrs depending on price.
The Ultima only has a 3 year. This is because it's not designed to last a long time, it's designed to last a lot of start cycles. So unless you're starting your car several times a day, you're wasting all the benefits of the Ultima.
Battery life will vary dramatically due to loads of factors so is very unpredictable. I've cheap batteries last 10 years and actually the yellow-top Ultima I had in the Belve lasted about that and was 3rd hand by the time it was given to me.
Ritchie recommends going for the cheapest 3yr you can find. There's a good chance it'll last a lot longer, but if it doesn't you've not spent a fortune.
I don't know how his prices compare but he's here...

No-one will believe you...
I've had several batteries that have struggled with infrequent use, in the Mustang. Worst was a Halfrauds one that lost a cell within the 3 year warranty, but they wouldn't replace (because of infrequent use, they said).
Now got a Bosch S5 that never fails, even after standing all winter. Local motor factor did a good price.
Got an Optima yellow top in the Jeep, which is awesome, but expensive.
Coronet has a battery from a McLaren, but I can't reveal the source...
