Is this the 'thingy' that needs to be replaced?

Miles it's also known as a "Pot Coupler" and I bought this rebuild kit for mine from this seller

Would have offered you mine as I've not used it yet but it's in Scotland with the Charger I'm afraid

IIRC the spring clamp around the top was an official mod that was done after the coupler was opened at any time for servicing/column removal as the Crimped on top cover sometimes popped off as Recrimping didn't always work second time around.MilesnMiles wrote:Cheers Nige, it looks different to mine. I have no clamp around the top
You can see in Nige's photos the tabs holding the top cover aren't bent correctly and wouldn't hold the top cover on hence the spring mod.
That's just one part of it. The link shows the seal or lid if you prefer, the dirty orange bit on top of the coupler in my pics.MilesnMiles wrote:Is this the 'thingy' that needs to be replaced?

As ScottyDave said above, you can get a rebuild kit for them. The bits inside mine are from a rebuild kit. Regardless of the actual design of your coupler, I would imagine the internal parts will all be the same
