Matching paint.

Post by Garp »

Can someone tell me whether the “gun” or “eye” that apparently exists that can match your exact paint shade is not just a figment of someone’s imagination?
I need to touch up my Sublime Green but it isn’t the standard paint code match.
Cheers guys.

It does exist, most paint places have one.
Give them as flat a test piece as you can.
If there is a lot of clearcoat, that can make for errors.

Cheers mate. I’ve had to take the bloody boot off as no filler cap and it’s the smallest panel !
Hopefully it’ll be a success.

the match will be great on day 1
but the paint will fade at a different rate in UV from the original
so you will need to paint to a fold edge or swage in any panel to mask the effect

my car is 3 shades of Hot mustard but only a trained eye or a computer can see it
each paint vendor builds the colour with a mix of pigments from their chosen vendor and the chemical composition is never the same so you do get a mis match 3, 5, 10 years down the line.

day 1 though should be pretty good

Cheers Dave ...... I was considering masking it in along the body fold line .... I guess we will just have to see what transpires.#
