the other core option is a sneaky US ebay purchase and stick the LARES core return address in for delivery

that's how i do it for aussie parts.

buy oil pump core in Oz in same city as reconditioner
send to reconditioner by local post and buy a pre recon one off them.

i now have a box full of knackered oil pumps
but hey 2 that work in motors

Quick update - no final decision yet but been in contact with a few people.

Firstly these things seem to be like rockng horse poo - nobody holds stock.
'classicindustries' have a lovely website with options one of which is a complete remanufactured unit with no core return. But they have not got any and their amazingly helpful customer service team supplied me with this gem - "This item is on long term backorder. Meaning we do not have a date when it will be available. Can take weeks, months or even up to a year. ". So no go there I think.

Lares I spoke to direct - they will do a rebuilt in 2-3 weeks on my box for $275 (shipping quotes look like £70 for 20kg in 2 days) from my quick digs. But this is the same service rockauto offer (from Lares) for $150. I queried and they said - yes, it will be cheaper through rockauto as we do them a deal. Honest at least...

Rockauto are currently quoting about £106 postage for a stack of parts INLCUDING the rebuild. I have an outstanding query as to whether this includes the core shipping and whether its airmail. If it is them it looks like a 3-4wk process all in. Will keep y'all posted.

I spoke to Dave Billadeau on the phone a couple of weeks back and he mentioned he's just taken a power box off a first gen charger that had been on all of a few hundred miles. Think he said it was a borgesson with a flaming river adapter? Give him a ring he might still have it.
Think it came off the white super stock charger that belongs to Adrian on here now I think about it?
