Anyone done a wiper motor ? I suspect its a pest to get to the linkage and before I bother I wondered what holds it on. Is it a special retainer ? Ball and socket ? e.g. how to remove the motor from the linkage ?
Context -
Last year at carfest my wipers stopped working. I wasnt that bothered, popped it on the winter jobs list. Today I got round to looking at it - suspected the switch. Well, a little play with the ol' voltmeter says it isnt the switch - it all checked out.
So I rummaged in the magic cupboard and found a spare wiper motor and resistor etc (as you do) plugged it in a hey-presto - it works.
So it suggests the old motor is either a) stuck or b) knacked. (I must admit, I have not given it the 'starter-motor-hammer-trick' yet.)
Given that I have the spares and the electrics check out, swapping seems logical BUT I dont really want to take the whole dash out. So my question is 'What holds the motor to the linkage'....?

Ah. Think I have answered it. (pic from the internet) But on a shaft.
Bottoms. That feels like a 'get behind the dash' job. 10:1 you cant get enough wiggle to do it bulkhead-side.

It's probably buried behind the heater box, this could be your chance to take it out and throw it away.....

I fixed mine at the NEC when the Spring clip came off....
Mind you, I have changed Inlet gaskets at the NEC whilst the car was on show, and that was a Small Block so I had to drain the coolant...

Well that was tight. Still, as my dad would have said 'committed' now.

Well, thought i might as well clean it and spray it.
Will try to refit tomorrow.
The spindle is horrible. You can JUST get a bendy ratchet spanner on it with an arm up behind the dash whilst lying on your back in the passenger footwell.
Hoping the tightening will seat the arm into spindle - that’ll make it easier. So 10:1 it wont then... 1st law of Mopar ownership.
