Cheers for the comments
Still in the process of sorting the main dash loom but its slowly coming along.
I stripped the pvc insulation tape off it all and the hidden crimped connectors and twisted wire joins confirmed my decision to replace the loom was the right choice.

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
Bit more progress with the loom today, finished up routing in and connecting the instrument cluster. You'll notice the Amp gauge is no longer connected, well one stud had sheared when removing the old wiring which was no biggie as I had planned on doing the bypass anyway.
Although I've no doubt the dead gauge will annoy me so I'm going to look into what would be involved with replacing it with a Volt gauge.
Next job is to fit some fuses to test it all works before wrapping it with loom tape and setting aside.

I would love to know how many hours you have in that wiring so far, including the planning, ordering parts, etc.
People have such a poor understanding of the amount of work involved.

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
I think you're right Pete a lot of folk don't understand what is involved in all aspects of resurrecting an old car, which is probably why a lot of unfinished projects appear.
No idea of an accurate time, at a rough guess 60hrs+ from the bulkhead to the last rear marker light.
A lot of evenings studying the wiring diagram, searching the web for the colours to use and where to buy from as not all vendors have the same range.
I didn't go into this blind and knew it was going be a time consuming task but it definitely was the right way to go, after all the work we've done it would've been daft to risk it all refitting the old loom.
I'll post a comparison photo with the original loom once I get it wrapped.

I think that is excellent work and you have gone about it the right way. Do it once, do it right.

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
Dash harness is done, tested it, did what it was ment to do so its all wrapped and put aside. Gave the gauges a check and they're all functioning as well
New and old harness comparison,
Completed harness from bulkhead to rear passenger marker light,
My original tail lights had been modified by cutting a couple of the red lenses out and gluing Amber lenses in their place. Although it was a reasonable idea which worked, I wanted to try to get back to the all red lights its supposed to have.
I found a pair decent lenses in the States and luckily they survived the journey across the pond. Now I just had to get an Amber light to shine through them
Tried Amber led...nope, tried green led...worked but too dim, eventually I managed to get hold of a couple of green incandescent bulbs...these work with a definite difference in colour I think to the stop/tails
Green Indicator bulb,
Indicator, Tail and Reverse lights,
Indicator, Brake lights,

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
that looks orange enough for even the most picky plod , more orange than all the modern cars with white indicators where the colour's flaked off their 'orange' bulbs.
neil.

Re: Lots of Love Needed (A Tall Order)
Been working on the brackets behind the bumper that hold the grills de-rusting and repainting, one of which was in need of a little bit more than rust removal.
So today was tin bashing day
