Steve's 68 GTX Convertible?

Post by Stu Twin »

Noticed a lurvely GTX convertible that I'd never seen before while watching 'Pilgrim Motorsports Cars & Caffeine' on YouTube last night.
How come I've never seen this before? I thought to myself.
Then had my suspicions.
Looks fantastic Steve, great colour. First time out?

1st minute and the 30th minute.
Loads of overpriced Mustangs in between. :D

Steve sent me some pics of the car when he first got it, he keeps threatening to bring it to Brooklands and Brighton but never has, I’m not sure if it’s ever been out apart from having work done.
Are we there yet dad ..... 10 to the gallon but worth it.

Hi Steve, good to see you popped in! Been a long wait but it looks well worth it! Are you going to give us a sneaky peek under the hood? Got any pics? ;) 8-)

Sorry Steve, didn't want to blow your cover.
I was just so happy to see it after all these years!
Must a be a rare car? Hmm, about 1026 convertibles i'd guess.

I used to own that one before Alan Carrington had it. B5 with white interior. I bought it in Germany off Carsten in about 1996.

Thanks Matt, I remember seeing that car at the Pod around that time, didn't realise it was one of yours tho! Or maybe I've just forgot... #-o

Here it was at Billing in 2006, up for sale by Mr Carrington, £37,500

Sorry for the thread hijack Steve ;)

Hi everyone it’s a real rs27 gtx (thanks Adam )
797 were built in 68
I bought it in December 2014 from the west coast of America on us eBay it arrived in April 2015 via sts imports very clean rust free car sorted the prop shaft out (Alders)
Then pilgrim sorted loads of niggly jobs suspension brakes wiring etc etc
I think it’s the only one in The Uk ??
The blue one carrington had went back to Germany years ago £36500 in 2006 ?? 🤩 wow 😮

Decent B bodies seem to have gone up in value over the last year or so.
Southern Motors in Detroit just sold a 69 GTX hard top for $68900. But they do seem to charge what they like.

now if it was a convertible.....
