Re: Blue's Barracuda
if i recall it was Nine degrees Caster change from full bump to full droop due to the angle the top arms are fitted at. (angled like that for anti-dive under braking conditions)
The Caster change can be reduced by lowering the position of the front top arm mount point made easier by fitting the rose jointed arms.

Re: Blue's Barracuda
I’m aiming for 5 degrees caster, not sure how that will vary with travel but it’s normally enough to keep the car in a straight line without noticeable bump steer.

Re: Blue's Barracuda
i was thinking more at the drag strip as the front rises you lose positive caster and could go into negative caster making it twitchy?

It does not matter if your front wheels are in the air!!!

Re: Blue's Barracuda
With the standard upper arms and an amount of body rake the average drag car tends to have, it’s very hard to get any positive caster at all, those are the cars that get can get twitchy. My suspension has 5” of travel and camber certainly changes but I don’t know what happens with Caster but I’ll be checking. With even 3 degrees of caster these cars feel stable.

They weren't Lingenfelters were they Blue ?Blue wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 22 9:55 am I really should know better by now. I usually make my own lightweight bumper brackets but I was seduced by these brackets I found on the net made specifically for my car. Do they fit? do they arse! Too long by at least 2 inches which required a couple of hours of shortening, redrilling, bending and swearing to get the bumper sitting where it should. The Americans love to slag off the Chinese for their quality overlooking the fact they can't get it right either far too much of the time.

I was going to say - I've bought a few sets from him without any major issues issue. The one's for the '66 needed a bit of fettling but he was very helpful.

Where do you get rose joint boots, I didn't know there was such a thing?
They would be useful for the 57 as that has rose jointed front coil overs.

rally design keep them too.
Re: Blue's Barracuda
Torqueing up the last steering box bolt and American quality bites me in the arse again as the thread strips out, simply remove K frame to repair. You can see there's just a bit of metal tacked on rather than a nut in this position. Bit of careful keyhole surgery with a die grinder to remove said plate and clearance for a nut, sorted. Bolt on never is...

Well Done!
I hope that Steering Box comes back cleaner than it went!
Really Frustrating, and not what you expect for the cost of the item.
