Mr Gasket Fabricated Aluminum Valve Covers

After a long search I went for these

Warning don't buy them :thunder:

These were only fitted in May this year and done less than a 1000mls , all the screws were too long bottoming out in the head, also had to work on the mounting surfaces to to make them flat. That I can deal with for cheap cheesiness covers.

But whats done me is the cracks in the welding around the screw holes on the top, causing a small but annoying oil leak.
Contacted JEGS via live chat with JEGS Only to be told you only get a
3 MONTH WARRANTY ON FAULTS AND MANUFACTURING . :-k Makes me think they know how long these could last before something goes wrong with them

So with taxes and shipping that's £300 i aint getting back, they look great but be warned stay away from these.

if they are polished not chromed on the inside
some of that aluminium solder rod, (you see on facebook) and a blow torch can fix it

used it on Lambretta head sets and chain case to seal or build up and provided you don't completly collapse your aluminium casting due to too much heat all good

need a starinless steel brush, no other type works, to prep surface, to remove the natural oxide coating on aluminim and then its much like a cross between brazing and gas welding. heat surface and let rod melt and pool from that heat
brush and do the job
leave it too long and you need to brush..... it again

Thanks Dave :thumbright:
The repair isn’t the issue as I can reweld them easily enough, it’s that it will burn and the coating off them
