Hi, just moved from Mustang to Mopar, finding parts a bit more tricky to source!!
My metal hood doesn’t stay up on its own, the hinges and springs are present but assume the springs are weak, I’ve been to Rock Auto and the other well known suppliers but no joy.
An anyone help? Year One just seem to stock springs for glass fibre hoods.
Thanks

well you seem to be able to get new old and NOS on ebay for various levels of astronomical cost

i presume your car currently has a metal hood and some previous owner used the replacement springs designed for use with the fiberglass hood.
that might explain its droopyness
otherwise the original springs must have been really crap. I think there is a modicum of over centre style action to the hinges so it should stay up even if the springs weaken somewhat it would be just a bit less stiff in the middle of its motion from closed to open
if its trying to come down all the time on the way from closed to open something is, as you have identified, not quite right

Thanks, one of those links is to just the springs, they are expensive but just what I wanted, well done on finding. I will double check my hood though as your advice is interesting. My hood just closes, doesn’t even hold anywhere so possibly another problem or the springs are for a fibreglass hood. Appreciate your help.

If you are not in a hurry and can come to the swap meet in March there is a reasonable chance you could find some s/h otherwise I bet Duncan Watts has some stashed in his bat cave
