Today I got the floor all sealed up with two good coats of epoxy,
Big area to prepare and really wanted it sealed so it’s one less thing to worry about!

Absolutely a keeper!
Waited sooo long , the plan is get it done as good as I can to full usable condition, then just slowly improve and maintain as a retirement distraction!
I’ve been ummm and arrring whether to repair or replace the front quarters and hood, my wings are definitely doable
The bonnet is more problematic as it’s badly corroded at the front corners, so my dilemma is keeping it all original US steel or fitting some South East Asian sheet metal!
For my body’s sake I’ll probably go with new , this will cost a bit , but save a ton of time and very hard work!
And theoretically the finished piece should be virtually filler free,
There can’t be many F body GM’s take can claim that !
The down side of all this is I’ll have to continue to work longer to help finance it!

Well that was interesting!
Having cut two large ish holes in my lower cowl
I then spent ages hoovering out the rocker!
Mice have obviously set up home at some point while it’s been stored,
Absolutely full of !
I removed about 5 of these dust pan loads ,

Had a busy day today , got my repair panels all welded in
Then cracked on with a final preparation of the bulkhead and smashed on the Epoxy ,
Need to take a break now , pretty much every spare hour for 11 weeks I’ve been on this ,
Knackard but well pleased with the progress

Removed the upper cowl today , lots of welds to drill etc,
Tried to remove in one piece but this proved to troublesome so I cut it,
Fortunately in inner plenum is in good order with just a small amount of corrosion to remove from the wiper motor area ,

almost finished de'rusting the plenum, quite an tricky panel to properly clean, still got the rust damage to sort out,
and did a test fit of the new upper cowl,

Still on the cowl and plenum chamber ,
Bit of a mission!
Very awkward repair panel to make with very basic hand tools, but it’s done and it’s water tight, had to do a small rust repair to the very bottom of the right hand screen pillar,
But that’s done to and virtually ready for some black paint then on with the upper cowl panel,
This is all primed and painted underneath etc,

Been a bit quiet the last week or so,
Managed to get some colour on the plenum so that’s ready to fit the upper cowl,
But decided to leave till I’d finished and couple of other jobs and as I need to local blast clean the A posts and rockers
Leaving the top open will make hoovering the glass beads out a lot easier!!
I’ve made a start on the drivers side rear quarter panel as it’s a bit ratty around the lip and behind the extension,
I’ve been restoring the cars 4 wheel arch extensions
3 were great one was injured!
Which required removing the bodged up former repair and properly glassing the inner support,
I’ve restored the pedal box and the 4 parts of the engine motor mounts ,
Got a lot to do !!!

The large piece of aluminium is what was butchered into the inner support, it only needed the chimney nut material replacing !!!
I’ve also done a small rat hole up by the rear screen,
This now needs to be lead loaded
And it’s easy to see the micro blisters in this old cellulose paint , just the result of poor water filtration from the compressor air ,
The modern version of this is solvent pop,
A phenomenon where the base coat isn’t properly dry before the clear is applied,
Both will ruin one finished paint !

are you painting inside (underneath) the upper cowl before fitting it? and will you weld it on or use modern panel adhesive so the paint on lower and upper panels aren't compromised?
