Yep, I bought Charlie for $4000 in 2000 so about £1600 at the exchange rate then. Sold him for the same 5 years later. I reckon a CL 318 in solid condition in Australia now must be about $60 to 80,000 now, so about £30-40,0000. Dave might have a better idea. All the Aussie muscle cars have become very sought after, the original Monaco prolly tops the prices, but I saw this advert for a Hemi 6 RT Charger E49 which is the cars they raced at Bathurst sold for $395,000. Madness!

Interesting article, I wish I had known about that dealership when I was there, I would have gone for a look.

Just realised how close my kids live to where you guys are talking about. They live in Waverley so its very close to the places you are talking about \:D/

Brontë Road in Waverley used to have lots of second hand furniture shops, it must have been an era thing they were always full of 1930s drinks cabinets and club lounge armchairs and sofas, they were really cheap shops great for setting up your first apartment. We started off on Pekivil Street off Bondi Road so not far from Waverley. They’re lucky to score an apartment there, renting in Sydney is a nightmare. When we first got there agents in Bondi would just chuck a bunch of rental agreements on the table and basically first one back to their office with the deposit got it, we didn’t have a car so we’re never going to win that race.

ha yeah lived on near bronte road where the roundabout at the end of every high street gave the left turn down to the beach

used to be a Red CL 4 door parked outside the pizza place opposite the Robin hood hotel and a white VG 4 door couple with a kid in a car seat lived locally as well....

i had this charger and i still have this charger

2002 2 barrel HP engine, RT charger cost me $12.5K AUD Xls and 770s were going for $6-8K
I was paid an average wage for tax purposes, with the rest made up from the tax exempt living away from home allowance and some kinda legal tax benefit scheme where a proportion of what i was paid stayed in the company bank account making interest for them, until i turned up with an order or a receipt and they'd raise a company cheque to pay.
weird set up

needless to say after a year or so i needed to spend some cash... so i did.
charger rather than VGVF VG was too long for the garage in bronte modern unit expecting me to be driving a holden barina
