Good luck with the search. All I would say is you have some 'big hitters' in the club giving you very good advice on what to look for and avoid so I hope it helps you choose. I would definitely say you can't go wrong with MrMs car but I'm accutely aware it's not my money or choice. If you dig through the forum in the 'search' section you will see the work members have done on their cars etc and I think you will quickly want a V8 and an earlier car as already suggested.
I would say bite the bullet on travel. You want to get the right car and if you need to travel just jump in the car or train, make a weekend of it. You will quickly forget any inconvenience for the right car but you will never forget rushing into buying the wrong car just because it's a bit closer to home.
Can't wait to see what you end up with and know you will really enjoy whatever you buy

I am looking too. There are more over here, and a bit cheaper too. But the travelling is a killer. I can do a 30 + hour round trip, and still find a pile of poo.
So my wife has always wanted to visit Hampton Court, my plan is to travel down and stay a couple of nights near to the palace, I see mr m is not too far from there, hopefully we can arrange something.
Does anyone have recommendations for Hotels, preferably five star......
Great plan! That will be a cracking visit and even better if you get to view MrMs car. No idea on hotels, wasted on me, it would be a normal hotel plus a couple of extra tanks of fuel for me
My wife has gone off the idea of a very long drive so I would do a round trip in the day.
I looked at a Saab 96 last week in Essex, 205 miles each way, did that in the day, it was a disappointing trip,I know it's further to mr m's, we'll see eh.

I suppose finding one in the states could be easier and import it but you can't beat actually seeing something, the summer has pretty much gone so there's no rush.
I might like it though eh.....

Buying from the States is possible but you could end up with a massive pile of trouble that looks shiny. Some of the work I've seen done on cars from the USA beggars belief. Then you need to shop it and register it, best get something that is already here.
