Redid the rear lines with full flow fittings, might have to try a 90 degree on the right to get rid of sharp turn in that line.

Finally got started on winter upgrades. Had the rear backing plates sandblasted and removed a little excess weight. Diff is out to replace the 4.10 gears with 3.91’s in the quest for more MPH. I’m planning to turn the wick up a bit more for next season but more of that in the new year!

In my continuing effort to get my car MSA legal for super stock I fitted a battery cut off switch with an external shutoff. Barracuda’s have a gap under the boot lid above the bumper so an ideal place to run the rod through. Just need to run a new alternator lead through to the switch so it cuts the engine as well.

PST aluminium driveshaft with Mark Williams billet yoke. Hopefully 5lb of rotating weight saved should get me some improvement no matter how small…

Finally I’m ready to get on with this, my next engine which I bought a couple of years ago. I’ve been collecting the extra parts I needed for it including the rare “wide” valve covers and the big tube tti race headers. This is another 360 based 408 stroker, it’s been converted to 4 bolt mains, has a gear drive, solid roller cam and Indy 360-1 heads and intake. It’s got the potential to run as fast as I’m ever likely to be able to afford and If I get things right it will still be street usable. It came with a dry sump oil system as it was going into a tube chassis car, I neither needed or wanted the added complication so a new wet pan was needed.

I bought a Moroso pan which had the 8 quart capacity I wanted but it was deep which concerned me give the cars startiine antics. Months of research found there wasn’t an off the shelf pan with the capacity but not as deep. I also wanted to keep the oil away from the crank to cut down on windage so building my own is the only way. First job was to cut the pan to the finished depth so I have something to work from.

Next, after some measuring I folded up some cardboard to see what I had space for. Calculations work out at just over 8 quarts with the full level around an inch under the crank, the level will drop as RPM increases. So thats the finished template, need to get some metal next and start folding.
