Well begging you pardon its not much of a thought is it? Its akin to celebrities covering themselves in cold water in the pretense of charity.

Dave, I keep telling ya. Oil is 15% Scottish GDP. You are making a much bigger deal out of it than I am and I work in this field. I work right at the core of Oil extraction, so believe me I know what Im taking about. The Oil Patch is small and word spreads fast. Im not talking about spin. Im talking about ears to the floor genuine reports. And even then I still believe Oil is not the be all and end all.

You are naive, or at least for the now. Maybe you'll get to continue in your ideological bliss if the No Votes somehow wing it. But reality will hit and hit hard when the 'Tartan Oil' no longer flows into England's Coffers.

Of course there will be cons at first, lots of them. No project starts of smoothly initially.

I know there is no utopia in this life, but if there is anything close to it it's Norway/Scandinavia. Have you ever been over? Id love to hear your views on thier model if you have , if not.....well..... you know....

I've not made a big deal about oil, I've just referred to you many previous posts in relation to it......which you again talk about in your second paragraph above......stating the same Political line!

I do find it quite astounding that an educated man like yourself can make such informed decisions about someone without A) ever meeting them or B) having any idea about there life, expertise or knowledge base bar what they post on here.......a car forum!

Bar some of my attempts at humor in some of my posts, you seem to a missed that in every post I refer to the fact I don't have the answers for everything, I don't know how it will pan out and more importantly in one of my first posts........I just don't care!

Would it be better to stay united.......probably, but that's because it's what is known with historical FACT!

I do not believe either Country will fall to its knees if they separate, but as I have said NO ONE can.....it's partly a venture into the unknown!

Let's hope that the project having a jittery start does not turn either into the next economic leper!

Scottish Oil is beyond essential to the economy of the UK. Its keeping the UK's Deb afloat. Its what pays off the interest of the loans instead of building up a country.

I dont want to presume on your income or lifestyle Dave but I would hazard a guess its a million miles away from anything that involves diplomacy? Just curious.

My view, no that I really care either way tbh....

If they become independent they run the risk or going into financial hardship and becoming the poor cousin of England. If we hit a bad recession than I can see them going like Portugal/Ireland/Spain and Greece.

If they want independence, then why do they want to keep the pound and the royal family......Cake and eat it.

If you want to become independent then be independent.....Own currency and Grants and Bells as Royalty!

Its no better than the kid that leaves home, gets a flat but goes back to mom and dads for tea everynight!!

Personally if I were Scottish I'd want to stay part of the big picture.....Safety in number and size.

Orkney and the Shetland Isles want independence from mainland Scotland too,how will THAT work?

As they are both within Scottish Waters should they wish to have independence, (and why should they not if that is their wish) they would be classed as an Enclave and are entitled to a 12 mile sea limit. Do you know how much oil is found within that 12 mile limit?
