Been busy for the last couple of days,
Finished the left hand rear quarter repairs
And started the right hand side
Guess I’ve a couple of weeks left on the metal work then I can start squaring the shell for polyester
Test fitted the left hand door and that’s actually not to shabby,
Finally feel like I’m getting somewhere!

So managed to get the right rear lower done
Very hot for welding with full overal’s etc !
Just a couple of small bits on the rear lower valance to do then a quick reblast and then Epoxy everything!
Hopefully it won’t look such a Turd once it’s all sealed up

I can relate to the welding in these high temperatures. I've been welding my sons car outside for past week and a half. Fortunately the car is the shade until mid afternoon but it's still really warm.
I feel totally drained now. I've started reassembly but as it's going to be even hotter tomorrow I'm having a rest day!

Yep it definitely drains ya !
Fortunately I’ve very little to do now metal wise
Need to local blast now and once the epoxy is on I can relax a tad,
Also going to order some more stuff as the exchange rate is still up a bit ,

Managed to get the right hand door shell repairs done,
Had a bit of corrosion around the front drain slot and a couple of tiny repairs, all done and in epoxy
Skins all prepped and in base white etc,

While i appreciate it’s like asking how long a piece of string is roughly what does an engine rebuild cost theses days ?
Normal stuff like an over bore, crank grind and polish,
I’m about 6-8 months from being in a position to start fitting the tranny back up and not touched the motor ?
Not looking for a cheap and cheerful but a solid proper job

Yeah I’ve contacted them but got no response?
Maybe if it isn’t a Ford or a Chevrolet they don’t bother?

Right hand doors all done
I welded in a decent mirror support , for some reasons GM didn’t bother with the right side !

Finally finished the metal work today
One week away from one year since I started this fiasco,
It should speed up from now on, I’ve very little to do as far as filler work goes, hopefully I’ll have the shell in last block stage by mid August

Looking good. And good job on keeping that garage clean and clutter free.
My garage is the opposite!

Haha
I’ve so little room I’ve no choice!!
I’ve been blasting the front bull nose today
Got the inside into epoxy
The outside has the normal TA degradation and multiple cracks in the Urethane,
Going to go with the recommendation of a US paint specialist Southern polyurethane ,
Blast , degrease and apply 4 coats of epoxy,
Leave for a week then carry out any repairs etc

I’ll be back on the shell Friday and final local blasting and sealing
