I cannot fault your logic....

I’ve got a pretty clear vision of what I want to achieve and what I know Gareth would have approved of, so one tiny bit at a time.

Will definitely put it through its paces once or twice a year at the track once I’m confident it won’t blow itself to smitherines or Bananarama! it’s pants everywhere, but it will be predominantly a road car with a gentle nod to weekend racers, so I want to make it easy to live with day to day, rather than a pain in the arse to live with whilst pretending it’s something it’s not.

Work in a structured method:

1) Critical Safety - Brakes, Wheels, Tyres. Also pay attention to Electrical (fire risk) and Fuel delivery (fire risk).

2) High Priority - Steering, then suspension.

3) General reliability areas - breakdown avoidance.

4) Cosmetics OR performance upgrades - depending on your priority.

Keep chipping away at it....

Struggling to get one of these as a lot of people not shipping to Uk at the moment, or having trouble with eBay, but shipping is mental for a small part too.

I’ve got a friend who has one for a 68 Barracuda he’s found, but not sure if they would be the same size?

Internet search looks like they may be!

Internet says ‘64 -‘69 Barracuda only, goes up to ‘74 but only A&B body it seems…

Ah, bugger. I thought it said Dodge 70-74 against that part number.

Managed to get a definitely correct one from Rick as a back up, but was hoping to use the Barracuda one to get it done tomorrow. Bugger…

I think it’s safe to say my seal does need replacing.

I’m finding disassembly quite easy. Turned one of the filler cap screws half a turn and the whole lot fell off… Amazed I haven’t t lost it down the road somewhere before now.

In other stupid questions, should there be a breather near the filler? Nothing on this puppy.

Probably used a vented cap, I think breathers came in a bit later, not 100% sure on that.

All said, I think it’s a job for another day, looks like I will have to remove the valance and still got other stuff to do, so think I’m going to do some more research and come back to this. Might just fit the fire extinguisher, wait for parts and go for a drive.

Meh… a slow day in the end. Abandoned plan and parked it for another day when I saw the state of what I had. Put some tunes on, fitted the fire extinguisher (should have dropped the prop, but it became a personal battle… ) tidied the unit, gave the car a wash and went to get gas and go for a drive.

Will wait for my parts delivery and have another bash. In the meantime, I’ve ordered some peen hammers and have randomly decided to see if I can sort all the dented trim out.

So…

The day after fitting the fire extinguisher, came out for a bacon roll and it threw gas all over the engine bay.
